Language Acquisition Through Food Writing
Overview of Workshop
Use food to expand your students vocabulary and improve their writing skills. Food is an excellent medium to help students of all ages acquire vocabulary to describe the world around them. The sensory aspects of food are tangible and your students will have fun exploring the textures and flavors of foods they eat.
Teach your students to slow down and focus on the sensory aspects of eating. What does the food they are eating look, smell, taste, feel, and sound like? Introduce the concepts of hunger and satiety to help your students identify and pay attention to the cues from their body. Learn how to guide a fun, mindful tasting as your students delight in the sensational sensory aspects of eating good food together.
