This workshop is for people involved in school gardens, community gardens, and home gardens. It’s for educators who work with kids in after school programs, homeschooling, summer camps and community centers, and also for people who do not work directly with kids.
We will walk you through the elements of planning, planting, and maintaining a garden. You will receive a comprehensive Garden Guide, which provides an overview of the various aspects involved in planning a garden such as location, design, garden theme, planting calendar, as well as the practical knowledge required to successfully grow a garden, from soil and plant health to integrated pest management, tools and tasks. The guide also includes fun, easy to implement suggestions for gardening with kids.
Once you have identified the purpose and goals of your garden, you will create a plan. Our Planning Workbook is designed to help you think through the various aspects involved in growing a beautiful garden.
The workshop instructors are lifelong gardener Antonia Demas and Master Gardener Ariel Demas. They will be available to answer questions as you implement your plan throughout the season.
