Teaching Culinary Techniques

Dicing, chopping, mincing and peeling — Oh My!

In this workshop Ariel and Antonia Demas of The Food Studies Institute will guide participants through a series of techniques teachers can use to teach students how use knives and other culinary tools in a safe manner. In addition to learning correct terminology and proper technique, participants will learn strategies for facilitating student practice in a safe and empowering manner. This session is ideal not only for culinary and FACS teachers, but also for special educators interested in teaching life skills, agriculture and health teachers, and extracurricular club advisors.

The registration fee for employees of TST Region districts (Candor, Dryden, George Jr. Republic, Groton, Ithaca, Lansing, Newfield, Trumansburg, and South Seneca) is $75.

The registration fee for all other participants is $100.
